The KUT Special Scholarship Program in Japan is currently accepting applications. This fully funded scholarship invites exceptional students from across the globe to take part in research-oriented academic programs. Scholars at Kochi University of Technology will enjoy a collaborative and supportive learning environment, full tuition exemption for three years, and allowances covering travel and living costs. The KUT Scholarship Program for doctoral students is a three-year, research-intensive degree aimed at developing advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful research career. Hosted by Kochi University of Technology in Japan, the program welcomes international students to pursue research in a variety of fields, including Intelligent Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Electronic and Fields of study include Photonics Engineering, Infrastructure Architecture and Design, Engineering Science, Informatics, Data and Innovation, and Economics and Management.
Each semester of the Japan research scholarship requires students to submit both a research plan and a research report. In their first and second years, they will also attend English academic writing courses to strengthen their ability to communicate research effectively, along with Japanese language classes to support everyday communication. Scholars will benefit from close mentorship by expert supervisors throughout their academic journey. Beyond academics, the program offers opportunities to participate in Japanese cultural events, fostering cross-cultural understanding. A significant requirement of the program is the publication of research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals, enhancing both academic credibility and research experience.

Benefits of Scholarship:
Scholars will be fully exempt from paying the entrance examination fee (15,000 yen), enrollment fee (300,000 yen), and annual tuition fee (535,800 yen) for a period of three years.
Additionally, each student will receive a monthly stipend of 150,000 yen throughout the program to cover living expenses.
To assist with initial relocation, international students will be provided a one-time grant of 150,000 yen for travel and settling-in costs.
Accommodation is available either on the KUT campus or in dormitories located on the Ikokuji campus.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be from regions such as East Asia, Southeast/South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, Africa, or other eligible areas.
- A supervisor may be assigned up to three SSP students. For more information, please refer to the list of available supervisors on the official website.
- Applicants are required to obtain consent from their preferred supervisor prior to submitting their application.
- Eligible applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification earned after completing 18 years of education.
- A strong academic background, sufficient research skills, and in-depth subject knowledge are essential.
- English language is essential for all applicants.
How to apply?
- Applicants are required to begin by completing and submitting the online pre-application request form.
- The selected supervisors will review the submissions to assess whether candidates meet their specific qualifications and research interests.
- Applicants are allowed to choose SSP.
- If approved, the chosen supervisors will contact the successful candidates and grant permission to proceed with the formal application.
- Following this approval, applicants must complete the official application form and send all necessary documents by post to Kochi University of Technology.
- The documents must reach KUT before the last date.
