The WTO Internship Program is to provide internship opportunities for university graduate students who wish to gain practical experience and in-depth knowledge of the multilateral trading system. This program offers a limited number of vacancies to the candidates continuously throughout the year.
The assignments given to the intern are meant to enhance the intern’s overall knowledge and understanding of the WTO and trade policy. However, the requirements of the intern’s employment department will be important in determining the exact nature of the assignment during the internship.

WTO Internship Program Benefits:
An agreement will be made between the intern and the Director detailing the terms of service and any compensation. Interns are paid a daily allowance of CHF 60 (including weekends and public holidays in selected periods). No other compensation will be payable.
Under normal circumstances, the internship takes place in Geneva, Switzerland. pandemic, distance learning from another country may be considered, and the terms and conditions of these distance learning courses may differ from those of Geneva. Travel to Geneva may not be covered by the WTO and such trips are not covered by the organization’s insurance. Interns are responsible for health and accident insurance coverage during the internship.

The WTO offers three main internship programs designed for students, graduates, and researchers from different academic and professional backgrounds:

- WTO China’s LDCs and Accessions Program – Sponsored by the Government of China
- WTO Support Program for Ph.D. Students
Internship Roles:

To be eligible for the World Trade Organization Internship 2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be citizens of a WTO member country.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old and no older than 30 at the time of the internship.
- Applicants must hold a degree in a relevant academic discipline related to the internship position.
Internship Period:
The WTO Internship Program does not have a fixed starting date. Internships are offered on an ongoing basis, depending on the organization’s requirements and available opportunities. Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
Deadline:
There is No application deadline.

A list of suitable candidates is prepared from which interns are selected. In addition to the regular internship program, there may be a need to arise to recruit for specialized tasks in the short term. These appointments will also be removed from the list. Names on the list will not be kept for more than one year.
