KEK Summer Student Program 2025 in Japan | Fully Funded

Applications are now open for the KEK Summer Student Program 2025 in Japan. KEK, a globally renowned accelerator science research laboratory, is committed to providing top-tier education and training to both national and international students. This fully funded research program allows participants to gain hands-on experience and contribute to cutting-edge research at KEK Tsukuba or J-PARC.

The SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from diverse fields, including Elementary Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Material & Life Science, Accelerator Science, Advanced Detection System Sensors/Electronics/Computing, and Theoretical Physics (computational methods in quantum field theory). Students can select research projects that align with their academic background, offering invaluable experience for their future studies and careers.

This eight-week international summer program provides students with the opportunity to stay at either the Tokai or Tsukuba campus of KEK. Research projects at Tokai focus on investigating the origins of the universe, hidden matter, and advancements in accelerator technology within the fields of particle and nuclear physics, as well as material and life sciences. Meanwhile, research at Tsukuba revolves around Belle II studies for New Physics. Participants at both campuses will engage in collaborative research under the mentorship of esteemed experts in the field.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be in the later stages of their undergraduate studies or the early phase of a graduate or master’s program.
  • PhD students are not eligible to apply.
  • The program welcomes both national and international students.
