The INPEX Scholarship Foundation is now open its 2026 program, inviting exceptional students from Indonesia, Australia and the United Arab Emirates to study at the MS degree level in Japan on full scholarships. Dedicated to promoting international friendship and academic collaboration, this esteemed scholarship serves as a gateway to top-tier graduate education in Japan.
A Legacy of Educational Exchange
Founded in March 1981 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Indonesia Petroleum Ltd.
The INPEX Scholarship Foundation (now INPEX Corporation) has provided support to over 200 scholars across the globe. In 2023, the foundation expanded its scholarships beyond Indonesia to Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
By 2025, it launched two new initiatives – the Exchange Student Scholarship Program and the ISF International Exchange Program – designed to enhance academic collaboration and promote cultural exchange at the university and high school levels.
What Makes INPEX Scholarships Unique?
Unlike most scholarships designed for students already studying in Japan, the INPEX Scholarship is intended for those residing in their home countries who wish to pursue a master’s degree in Japan.
Applicants must select a graduate program of their choice and obtain a Letter of Expense (LOA) from a professor or supervisor at a Japanese university before applying.
This fully-funded scholarship covers round-trip airfare, Japanese language training fees, full tuition and related fees, a monthly stipend of 160,000 yen, travel expenses, and a pre-arrival preparation allowance.
