Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2025 in Canada | Fully Funded

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship invited application is a Canadian initiative that empowers and educates candidates from around the world by teaching them Canadian research methods and techniques. The Globalink Internship in Canada for worldwide students offers a 12-week research program for interns under the supervision of Canadian university professors or center members in a variety of disciplines. Interns can undertake summer internships in the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, humanities and social sciences. The fully funded international internship also includes a range of interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects, meaning students can explore projects in specific and general categories.

Fully funded internships are available for students at approximately 70 universities across Canada. Many academic partners around the world who also participate in research projects. Canadian Best Practices also provides ideas and techniques to academic partners as they conduct pilot projects in Canadian universities. Academic partners include The Australian University, the Araucaria Foundation of Brazil, the China Scholarship Council, Colombia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Fulbright Canada and the British International University. These international partners support the Globalink Internship Program.

Students have life-changing opportunities with this international paid internship as they come in contact with other people from different countries and institutions. Through this joint internship, they can build a global network of Mitacs Globalink alumni and contribute to a better future. For example, a Harvard student has worked with a Queen’s University lab to design a device to rapidly test for Lyme disease-causing pathogens.

Benefits of the Matics Internship

  • Participants will have the opportunity to conduct research with professors and Canadian universities.
  • Students will receive a stipend of up to $300 towards student registration costs.
  • A return ticket to Canada will be provided.
  • Interns will be provided transportation from the airport to their residence in Canada.
  • Hostel allowance is given to the students.
  • Health insurance will be covered.
  • Certificate of completion of Globalink coursework will be awarded.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a full time undergraduate or graduate/ undergraduate student from an eligible institution.
  • Applicant must be from an eligible country.
  • Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, UK and USA.
  • The age of the applicant 18 years old.
  • Applicant must have one or three semesters remaining by Fall 2024.
  • Applicant must be available for a 12-week internship in Canada.

  • If the applicant’s program is not clearly listed, it should be searched with multiple
  • keywords in various fields. Applicant can search in two general and specific categories. If the University still does not respond, contact helpdesk@mitacs.ca.
  • There is no submit button, you must have carefully completed your request on the dress date.
  • The applicant’s reference letter should be from his/her professor who is currently supervising him/her in his/her home country.
